MarCom Awards is a creative competition for any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.
The MarCom statuette graces the trophy cases of some of the top business and communication firms in the world. The MarCom competition has grown to perhaps the largest of its kind in the world with about 6,000 entries per year. A look at the winners shows a range in size from individuals to media conglomerates and Fortune 50 companies. The competition is so well thought of in the industry that national public relations organizations, local ad clubs, and local business communicator chapters are entrants.
The mission of the MarCom Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the creativity, hard work and generosity of marketing and communication professionals. MarCom winners receive well-deserved recognition and third-party validation from a long- established industry organization that has earned a reputation for fairness, consistency and timeliness. Winners are listed on the MarCom Awards’ website and in next year’s Call for Entries. Winners and clients can also tout their awards through their news releases to their local news media and on their own websites, newsletters and print materials. Winners also have the opportunity to showcase their achievement in their offices or homes and to present clients with attractive, high-quality, meaningful awards.
MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals. AMCP administers recognition programs, provides judges, and rewards outstanding achievement and service to the profession.
AMCP was founded in 1995 by a group of creative professionals involved in competitions for several of the national and international trade organizations. The goal of the group was to provide an inexpensive, independent competition on an international level that would be fair, respected and open to everyone.
The competition is designed for the convenience of the entrant. You have the option of entering online and uploading your entries or sending in entry forms with entries.

If you send in your entries, please attach a copy of Form A to each entry. Submit only one copy of each entry. There are no special binders, or matting requirements. A digital version of a print entry is acceptable. If an entry is too large, a photo will suffice. Since each entry is judged on its own merits, no accompanying materials are necessary for most categories. In a few designated categories where a plan is involved, submit whatever you produced for your client (whether internal or external). If the plan or report is not available, submit a brief summary of objectives, challenges and solutions. Audio, video, print or web entries may be uploaded or submitted on CD, DVD or USB flash drive, or write a web location on the entry form below the title of entry. Multiple entries may be submitted on the same CD, DVD or flash drive. Most formats are acceptable.
An entry may be submitted in more than one category at an additional cost. However it is not necessary to send an additional copy for each category.
Platinum winning entrants who submit digital entries online will have the opportunity to have their work displayed in our online winner’s gallery if they grant permission on the online entry form.
The competition is open to all individuals, companies and organizations involved in producing any marketing and communication materials for external or internal audiences.
To be eligible, an entry must have been produced after January 1, 2016 (almost a 2-year window).

MarCom Awards is one of the most reasonably priced awards programs in the creative industry. Instead of charging several hundred dollars per entry, the fee is $85 per entry or $160 per campaign or plan.
A campaign is THREE or more pieces for the same client with a common theme. The pieces can be in the same or mixed media. Entry fee per campaign, strategy or plan is $160.

If you want to submit pro bono work only, you must pay the regular entry fees.
Only entrants who enter a regular piece in the competition are eligible to enter pro bono work at no cost. This is a perk for those who help defray costs of overhead, mailings, judging etc.
You can only have one pro bono entry per client. Multiple pieces such as a brochure, website, video, etc. count as one entry. You can however have an unlimited number of pro bono clients. If you are mailing in your pro bono entry, include a brief synopsis of what you did for each pro bono client. If you are entering online, upload a brief description after checkout. To be considered a pro bono entry, you should not have received any compensation. It is ok for the nonprofit or others to have paid for hard costs such as materials. You will be judged on creativity and the extent of your effort.
Over the past two decades, Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals’ judges have earned a reputation for accuracy, fairness and credibility. A look at the list of MarCom winners is a who’s who of the industry. It is also the competition where professional organizations that run their own competitions enter their work.
To ensure timeliness, fairness and consistency, most of the judging is done in the AMCP judging room in Dallas, Texas and in Washington, D.C. Judges are senior-level, experienced professionals residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth and D.C. areas. They are free-lancers or own their own businesses. They are selected based on experience and availability. It takes two months of full-time work to judge the thousands of entries. Judges can change during the process, but at least one of the two judging coordinators is there at every session.
Entries are judged at random and not compared directly to other entries in their categories. There is no preset number of winners in a category. There are no lengthy essays to persuade the judges; so all work is evaluated solely on its own quality, creativity and resourcefulness. Judges base their decisions on learned perceptions of creative excellence rather than an entrant’s imaginative explanation of an entry’s value.
Since there is a tremendous variance of resources from entrant-to-entrant, and piece-to-piece, perceived budget is taken into consideration in the judging. Based on their work experiences, judges have an expectation for each individual entry. A student-produced ad is not held to the same expectation as a piece produced by a Madison Avenue agency for a Fortune 50 company.

MarCom Awards recognizes that many of the entries are internal or proprietary in nature, or are done for the government or another company, so unless you grant permission for your entries to be displayed in our winner’s gallery, only the judges will see your work.
Entries will not be returned unless special arrangements are made. Immediately after judging, each hard copy entry is destroyed. Each electronic entry not granted permission to be displayed is deleted. No entrant information is sold, traded, made available to a third party or used for any other purpose.

The MarCom competition has grown to perhaps the largest of its kind in the world with about 6,000 entries per year.

AMCP has contributed over $200,000 to charitable organizations over the last few years.
Most entries are $85. Campaigns and specialty categories are $160. An entry can be entered in more than one category, but it is an additional fee for each category.

Choose the category that best fits what you want judged. You will be presented with a system of choices that will help you get to a specific category number. For instance, you will choose a parent category such as Print Media, then you will be presented with a list of secondary subsets such as Direct Mail and then a third set of specific categories such as 17. Catalog. Judges reserve the right to move an entry to another category.
In most cases the work speaks for itself and the final product is all you need. Explanations, although not encouraged, can be uploaded and will be read by judges. In the case of strategic communications such as a marketing plan or campaign, send us the materials that you presented your client. If that is not applicable, write a short summary of objectives, challenges & solutions.
During the entry process you will be given the opportunity to include a URL if the entry is online. Otherwise, you will be prompted to upload or mail in your entry after check out. Most formats are accepted. In the rare event the file can’t be opened, you will be contacted.
Receipts and Paperwork will be automatically emailed after checkout.
Through your My Account on our website, you can pay later, upload, add to or manage your account.
We recognize the need for confidentiality, permission etc. and will not display or comment on any entries without prior permission from the entrant. However, unless otherwise requested in writing by entrant, client company will be included in winner’s list. The last file that is uploaded for each entry will be the file that represents the work on our Winner page.
All winners will be announced and results will be posted to your My Account by November 1. Since entries are judged against a standard of excellence and not each other, some results will be posted prior to the final date. An email will automatically be sent when results are posted to your My Account.
